UPDATE: just install the vista drives and it should work, and in case any of the drivers don’t work go to that 3rd partys site and try downloading the drivers directly from the company how made the hardware. I had to do this for the 64bit driver for the finger reader.
I’m outraged by HP’s decision to not support windows7 drivers on the pavilion Dv9000 series. There is no viable excuse in my opinion why HP can not/should not add drivers for a laptop that had vista pre installed on it and was listed on their front page just over a year ago.
I hope that HP corrects this very soon. I can only imagine that there was many sales of that laptop last year alone. That will be a lot of upset laptop owners who just over a year ago paid around $1500 for their top of the line laptop, but now can not upgrade their “forced upon” vista OS to the new windows 7 that is superior to vista in many ways.
How can a series of laptops with a top of the line cpu and video cards not be eligible as stated here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01892673&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3650971, yet lower end laptops like the Dv2 series is getting supported?
I will be voicing my opinion about this issue else were in hopes to gather more support and create more complaints to HP for their incompetents in supporting one of their newest laptops.
I was told by HP support that I should not upgrade and to continue to use vista only for this laptop.
outraged!

Hello there,
i installed windows 7 on my HP Pavilion (DV9000 series) couple of days ago. and it works flawlessly. no problems what so ever.
all the drivers r working perfectly….
Hi mate just wondering what version of vista you were running and what version of windows 7 you upgraded too as I too am running a dv9000 series and contemplating the upgrade despite it not being supported by HP, any advice would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Asif
hi!
happy to read that there’s no problems with windows 7 on Dv9000.
could you give me the link to download the drivers as there are not on HP website.
thanks!
I too have a series DV9000 but have managed to install the 32bit WIN7 with great success. My machine is actually working better than it did with Vista. I have, however, lost my fingerprint reader (an inconvenience).
I should also add that between HP not supporting WIN7 for this computer and for their disgraceful lack of support on the Nvidia GT8600m video chip defect in the same computer, I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HP/COMPAQ PRODUCT AGAIN. This company deserves to go out of business.
HP has been super arrogant in not supporting Windows 7 drivers for the dv9000 series. Although the machine works fine with Windows 7, it gets a performance score of 1 because of no graphics driver. (It gets a 4.3 on Vista.) I have recommended HP to many people in the past but no more that’s for sure. To trap people on Vista with it’s bad reputation and quirky performance is a really bad call.
Hi All,
has anyone tried to install win 7 on a dv9036ea yet? cant find any info on this and not sure if all dv9000 will react the same. Wanna make sure before buying.
please e-mail me if you can…littleastontt@googlemail.com
Many thanks
Tried to install win 7 on a dv9035nr. It had xp on before so I did a clean install. It’s been a total disaster. None of the device drivers worked, so I went to the manufacturers site for each driver, downloaded it, and installed first using vista compatibility, and then when that didn’t work, xp compatibility. The drivers worked for a few days, but now everything is failing again. No BSD’s, just classic driver errors, like the screen going black and refusing to come on after closing and opening the laptop (even when the action is set to “do nothing”), the quick-launch buttons non-responsive, and all kinds of non-fatal library errors when the machine is powered up. I’m starting to see the wisdom of apple’s “one OS for one architecture” approach.
you can install it in windows xp only ?
I don’t beleave this i also recomened Hp to all my freind now rethinking that option. HP is worse than Dell, sorry your product is over a year old we dont support it any more my dv9000 is so slow with vista, but 7 it flys thanks hp for all your support.
The stupid people in HP !!! I installed Win 7 x64 and I’m having a hard time to find all the drivers. I couldn’t find the nVIDIA GeForce Go7600 driver for Win7 x64, not even in nvidia’s website. I’ll test the update for nVIDIA released from Microsoft but I read in all the forums all kind of users had problems with it. So…I can light up some candels and pray to god the guys from HP will release the drivers in 2010…
Everything is working fine for my Pavilion dv9000 after installing win 7, EXCEPT for the microphone. I tried to find its driver, but nothing anywhere!! I’ve come very dissapointed with HP.
Its beyond sad that HP would do this to its customers.I just installed 7-32bit and it runs great for having no graphics card installed. NVidia just keeps refering me to HP and HP doesnt care.
My next laptop purchase will not be an HP.
I have a DV9201TX, how come HP did this to the people who brought the Expensive Laptop from Him . Other series support window 7 but Dv9000 not support, what they thinking.
We’re in agreement. HP needs to create the drivers for these notebooks. Its BS considering how much I paid for it.
I am upset with HP as well for not providing support for Win7 on a Vista machine. Yes, most of the drivers work fine, but there are a few like the finger print reader that is not working or the Remote Control. This is the 2nd time that I have seen HP lack of support for a computer that is not that old to upgrade the OS. Their thinking seems to be that they want you to buy another computer from them. With all the other problems that I have had with my computer I’ll not buy another from HP.
I’m pretty much impressed with the stability of Windows 7. It is better than windows Vista which hogs my memory and cpu.~”`
I have the HP Pavilion dv9000 with Win 7 32 bit installed and the graphics and sound are both flawless. I did a clean install and also found a dead cool website to install Microsoft Office for students and teachers for really cheap at:
http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts/theultimatesteal-uk/default.aspx
I hope it is not psychosomatic, but really impressed with this recent version of Windows.
I had windows vista. the dv9000 kept crashing and having fatal errors because of the bad vista os. I installed windows xp professional and couldn’t get any drivers. not even internet. Just took it to microcenter to have them upgrade it to windows 7. they are going to find all the drivers and do the upgrade for $60. I hope it works. HP has a nasty, rotten attitude toward us, their customers. They will only let you restore vista, which was never made to work with only one gig of ram preinstalled and enough junk to fill it before vista could even start.
F.U. hp if this is the attitude you have toward us all.
~RAM question~
Hey guys, I have a DV9008TX and I hate Vista. I want to upgrade to 64bit Win7 to improve performance.
Does anyone know if after I upgrade the OS from 32bit to 64bit, can then install more than the max 4gb (3gb actual) RAM? Or is there a hardware/motherboard/bios limitation of the DV9000 series?
I want to bump it up to 8gb so I don’t have to upgrade my Laptop for another year or so.
Thanks!!!
ola sou do brasil e aqui a hp é uma porcaria com este hp pavilion dv9000
That is not on. I did purchase HP brand (DV9000) not only on specification but mainly on strong image of the brand and the support I was expecting to get.
I am very disappointed that HP just dropped support for windows 7 for the DV9000 series leaving users in the bad cold.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRODUCT AGAIN!!!
I Am an I.T engineer and this particular series of Hp machines along with dv6000 and dv2000 all suffer from a inherent fault with their motherboards! Over time the gpu fails due to inadequate cooling and lead free solder, also the wireless fails due to an incompatibility with the broadcom US cards and the EU boards! I have seen thousands of these machines all with the same fault! In my opinion the entire series should have been recalled!
This is why in my opinion they do not support windows 7 drivers, They are forcing you to buy a new machine, they are cutting there losses it seems like! Best advice if you have one of these machines, sell it while it works and get yourself a Sony or a Mac!
